Luzerne County is switching all the VHF Hospital Primary/Secondary to a UHF system. They will be using MedComm which is all EMS units to patch themselves into a facility without going through the county, then using the designated Med channel Any one else have any more information on the switch over?

that post is not true.... I have seen msgs from 2-3 EMS units on this, and other forums, stating that they have just had 10-CH UHF radios installed. I admit I have heard no testing on any of these since 1st reported in Sept, so I would be interested in what information you have that says otherwise?

Luzerme has just started using UHF Med Channels 2,6,8 for direct link to WB General. The PL is 203.5, which will be the PL for Lackawanna, Wyoming, Pike, & Wayne. With this system, the BLS & ALS trucks can dial any of the hospitals in the 5 county area without the need to have 911 Ctr hook them up on 155.16. This is supposed to provide some relief for 911 Ctrs. Med 4 will have no PL, and is reserved for Emergencies and out of the area units. Med 9 & 10 will be used as TAC channels during a major emergency and will have no PL Testing for Lackawanna started 8/13, but I have not heard any use yet. However, several medic units called WBGH today, and they have all been sent instructions to use Med 2,6,8 for WBGH starting today. Edit: Geisinger West and Hazleton General online as of 9/5 This link to the Users Manual is very interesting.
