Airline Company Frequencies
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport (AVP) Although I am not “into” the aircraft band, I thought I’d listen for a while to add some info for those that may find it interesting.
In addition to the frequencies listed for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport (AVP) that control traffic in and out, there are airline company AM frequencies in the ranges of 128.8250-132.0000 and 136.5000-136.9750. These are used to communicate with ground stations at airports. Conversations on these frequencies are not as formal as those used to communicate with air traffic controllers but are more like a telephone call to the concierge at a hotel. As such, they can be considered boring to some.
When aircraft are within 20-30 minutes of their destination, they call in on these to report equipment malfunctions, delays, rerouting, and the special needs, such as wheelchairs and un-accompanied minors(UUM). Sometimes, when they are about 10 minutes off the ground on their trip away from the airport, they call back with the times they were off the gate, and off the ground, and something to do with fuel burned. Below are a few frequencies that I found for AVP. Notice there are multiple airlines on one frequency, probably because this is a small airport and these are small feeder airlines.
